If corn has aflatoxin will it be made worse by putting it in this air-tight bag?

The most important damage fungus can cause, is toxins production. Toxins production is influenced by grain type, pH, O2 and CO2 concentration and sample moisture content. In hermetic silo bag storage the low O2 and high CO2 concentration also inhibits fungus growth and slows down toxins synthesis -fungistatic-, so it can be said that silo bag is the lower risk storage system.

If you have corn which is already infested with Aspergillus and has aflatoxins it will not get worse by putting it into a bag -conditions inside the bag will inhibit fungus growth and slows down toxins synthesis- but anyway it will not get better because aflatoxins are already there. It will stay the same while stored.

How are Forage Bags different than Grain Bags?

Forage stored in plastic bags have been around for a long time. Matter of fact, grain stored in plastic bags has been around for a while. The difference in the new Grain Bag storage system is three fold. First, the modern day grain baggers has a slanted front inside the baggers. Grain is dropped not packed inside the tunnel to elimimate the risk of grain damage and the baggers have many convenient features. Second, the bags are much improved over the old forage bags. And most important there is an extractor (unloader) that mechanically unloads the bag at the rate of around 7000 bushels/hr.
